On May 27, 2022, a solemn ceremony was held to award the winners of the St. Petersburg Government Awards for Outstanding Scientific Achievements in the Fields of Science and Technology and Outstanding Achievements in the Fields of Higher Education and Secondary Vocational Education in 2022.
The nominal prize of the Government of St. Petersburg for Outstanding Scientific Achievements in the Fields of Science and Technology was awarded to 21 laureates (including 6 young scientists). Each nomination of this award is named after an outstanding scientist from St. Petersburg who made a significant contribution to the development of Russian science.
This year, the vice-rector for Scientific Work of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education the "Saint Petersburg State Institute of Technology (Technical University)", Doctor of Chemical Sciences Alexander Vasilyevich Garabadzhiu became the winner of the D.I. Mendeleev Prize in the chemical sciences nomination for the cycle of works "Target-oriented heterocycles – molecular modeling, synthesis, and medicobiological aspects".
The prizes were awarded for the first time in 2000 in pursuance of the decision to award nominal scientific prizes, which was adopted in June 1999 at a joint meeting of the Government of St. Petersburg and the Presidium of the St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The total number of prizes awarded for 2000-2022 is 316, including 78 prizes awarded to young scientists.
Many outstanding scientists were presented this award, in particular Academician A.F. Alimov (N.I. Vavilov Prize), Academician N.P. Bekhtereva (I.P. Pavlov Prize), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences L.A.Verbitskaya (S.F. Oldenburg Prize), Academician V.A. Glukhikh (A.N. Krylov Prize), Academician I.V. Gorynin (A.N. Krylov Prize), Academician A.M. Granov (I.P. Pavlov Prize), Academician S.G. Inge-Vechtomov (N.I. Vavilov Prize), Academician O.A. Ladyzhenskaya (A.F. Ioffe Prize), Academician F.G. Rutberg (A.N. Krylov Prize), Academician V.M. Pashin (A.N. Krylov Prize), and Academician R.A. Souris (A.F. Ioffe Prize).
